The Bedford Building: A Campus Built on a Sustainable Foundation After 95 years serving this community, we are building out a new home for our next century of service – a 36,000-square-foot campus at 9223 Bedford Avenue in Omaha, “The Bedford Building.”
With its accessible location, ample space for growth, and open floor plan designed for collaboration and a holistic approach to serving clients, the Bedford Building is where our vision for the present and future will come to life. This is more than just about a building. What matters most is what will happen inside – the lives touched, the human dignity empowered, the community transformed.
Broadening Our Impact, By Expanding Our Reach Exponentially Catholic Charities of Omaha has had an ongoing presence in North and South Omaha for more than 25 years offering our services to people in crisis at the Juan Diego Center and St. Martin de Porres. Our new location, situated in a food desert and neighborhood of need, with easy access from the Interstate, will allow us to reach a multitude of new people – right in our backyard and across urban, suburban, and rural communities throughout the 23 counties of the Omaha Archdiocese. These are people who are in desperate need of our help right now.
Deepening Our Impact, Through A Holistic Approach The layout and flow of the space aligns with our mission – ministering works of mercy by bringing together different programs and services to work collaboratively and address the needs of the whole person and, often, the whole family. When a client comes to the Domestic Violence Shelter, for example, we may also connect that individual with Behavioral Health counseling, Immigration Legal Services, the Mentoring Moms program, or our Microbusiness classes. We will extend this collaborative approach to strategic partnerships as well, as the building will house other community services under the same roof.
